ビリー・アイリッシュちゃんの「コピー・キャット」という曲があります。これはそっくりなもの、また犯罪における模倣犯を呼ぶ単語です。そんな楽曲から着想を得たお話です。

I came up to talk about this topic since I have been listening to a music called " Copy Cat" by Billie Eilish. Please have fun reading.

サスティナビリティ、つまり持続可能性とはシステムが持続的に、かつ多様性を持って継続することです。

Sustainability means sustaining a diverse system for a long time.

そしてその継続には、人間が永久的に生まれることが必要不可欠だと言えるでしょう。

To do so, it is necessary for humans to live a long forever.

人が生まれる理由には、いろいろな理由があるのかもしれない。

There would be a lot of reasons why humans are created.

とある宗教は、人は神によって作られた創作物だというでしょう。

人は、あの遺伝子の塊を可愛いだのなんだのというのかもしれない。

People would say that it is cute, that chunk of soul.

だけど、人類が子孫を残す理由は、明快だと私は思います。

But there is a clear reason why humans leave offspring.

それは、より良い遺伝子を残すことです。

To remain the better gene.

何回、何十回、何百回、何千回と繰り替えさえれる小さな組み合わせの変化を掛け合わせ、

その中で生き残った遺伝子がより素晴らしいものとなります。

There is a repetition of combinations for dozens, hundreds, thousands of times.

And the best combination of genes will be the better for human living.

あなたの中にある仕草や考えや髪や背格好や癖は、きっとそれによく似た人物がいるのだろう。

祖父に似た学歴、祖母に似た考え、母に似た体つき、父に似た瞳、姉に似た笑顔、兄に似た趣味、従姉妹に似た声。

Your way of thinking, looks, hair, behavior would have the “original”.

Your grandpa went to the same university. Your body looks exactly the same as a mom’s. Similar eye from dad. Same smile with your sister.

誰しもが、誰かに似た何かになって生きていく。

私は、私じゃない誰かの真似事の集まりでしかない。誰かとそっくりな、何者でもない私。

Everybody becomes someone who looks the same as someone else.

I am an assembly of someone. I am no one who looks the same as someone else.

私は今日も、あなたの母親も好きだった、あなたの好きな服を着る。

あなたの祖父が作った、その味を真似る。

代々コピーペーストされるその学歴を歩く。

I wear the clothing that my mom used to wear.

I cook a meal that has the same taste as my grandpa’s recipe.

Ill walk the same road of a university that my family has been graduated from.

私は結婚願望もなければ、子供を産みたいという願望もありません。

自分のような遺伝子を後世に残したいとは思わないのです。

自分を愛することのできない人に、自分のコピーを愛することはできるのでしょうか？

I have no desire to get married, nor do I want to have children.

I am not willing to leave genes like mine to future generations.

Cause, if you can't love yourself, how can you love a copy of yourself?

生きるということは、真似事でしかないのかもしれない

生きることは、誰かの真似をしながら、その真似事の組み合わせで「自分らしさ」を作ること。

Maybe living is all about coping others, and imitation.

To live is to copy someone else while creating your "self" through a combination of those imitations.
